This guide is going to help you to create Wi-Fi hotspot in Ubuntu 14.04 Laptop for Android Phones. You can share your wired internet/dongle connection with Android devices.

I'm using KDE’s network manager to create shared internet connection because Android device required Access Point (AP) mode does not support in pre-installed Network Manager in Ubuntu unity.

NOTE: before follow below steps, must check your Wireless Card Access Point (AP) Support Mode.

1. below to install kde-nm-connection-editor
 ---> $ apt://plasma-nm

2. When installation finish, Press Alt+F2 and run command to launch the app
: kde-nm-connection-editor

3. On the Connection editor Click Add button and choose “Wireless (shared)” from the drop-down list.

4. Type in a name, SSID, and select Access Point mode.

5. Setup password under Wireless Security tab. Finally, click OK. (You can leave it Wireless Security option if you would like to use as open connection).

6. If you already connected internet via wired/dongle, Click Network Manager applet on Unity panel and then choose “Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi network”, choose the connection you created in previous step and click Connect button.

7. Finally, your Network Manger menu should look like this:

Now you can Turn on Wi-Fi on your Android phone Then Click connects and enjoy!
