Today I am going to show you How to create WiFi hotspot using your command prompt in Windows or Windows 8/8.1, method that requires no extra tools—just the Command Prompt.

Step 1: Create WiFi Hotspot in Windows 8,8.1, Windows 7


First you need to check your PC harware supports hotspot feature or not. To check this follow the instructions.

To begin, you'll need to open the Command Prompt with administrative privileges.

Enter this command : netsh wlan show drivers



If it show “yes” you can create WiFi hotspot in your PC. If it shows No you PC can’t create hotspot. Don't Close your command prompt because we need it again.


Step 2 : Create WiFi Hotspot Network in Windows Laptops


Now Enter below command on your command prompt (Make sure its opened in administrative mode).

Enter this command : netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=PranavanSP key=12345SP123

Press enter key then you will get below result.If you got result like below then your doing right. Now your hotspot is activated in your PC.



Here PranavanSP is your WiFi name(SSID) and 12345SP123 is your password. If you want you can change your password.


Step 3: Create WiFi Hotspot in Windows 8,8.1/7 Computers


To Start created WiFi network Again Enter the below command.

Enter this command : netsh wlan start hostednetwork

Press Enter >> now you will get result as below. Now can close your CMD. Now your hotspot is created and started. follow the instructions >>


Step 4: Share Internet Connection in Windows 8/8.1/7


Now you are going to share internet connection with other devices >>

  • Search "Network and sharing" on Windows 8/8.1  as shown in below image

  • Click on settings there highlighted with yellow.



Go to the Control Panel and open up the Network and Sharing Center. You should see your new virtual adapter listed there (as shown in the screenshot below). "Local Area Connection XX"



Next select your presently using internet connection (Dialog Broadband (Post Paid) is my current internet available connection - using 3g modem) and right click on it and open properties ->> then go sharing tab ->> choose Local Area network XX under Home Networking condition as shown in below image click on OK.



Now you can Turn on Wi-Fi on your Device Then Click connects and enjoy!
